The Wellness Guide for Your New WFH Lifestyle

For millions of us all around the world, working from home and social distancing have suddenly become part of our everyday lifestyle. For some, this may be easier than for others, but for all of us, there’s an adjustment period, and we all need to be mindful of our health and wellbeing.

If you’re now spending a lot more time at home than you’re used to, our WFH lifestyle guide will help you ensure you make the most of this strange time, keeping on top of your own wellbeing and mental health…

1. CREATE A ROUTINE

The first and most important thing to do if you’re not used to working from home is to create a daily routine. This will help keep you focused and motivated, whereas getting up everyday unsure of what to do or how to spend your time can be quite deflating.

Treat weekdays like you normally might, getting up and ready for the day, setting aside time to work, time to eat, time to exercise and rest, as well as time for cooking and cleaning. If you don’t have a lot of work on, or you’re working a lot less than usual, try to find other ways to be productive, such as studying something you’ve always wanted to learn, getting on with things around the house, or getting started on that project you’ve always felt you don’t have the time for. When you stay focused, you avoid becoming bored, allowing your mind to slip into periods of worry and concern.

1. CREATE A ROUTINE

The first and most important thing to do if you’re not used to working from home is to create a daily routine. This will help keep you focused and motivated, whereas getting up everyday, unsure of what to do or how to spend your time can be quite deflating.

When you stay focused, you avoid becoming bored, allowing your mind to slip into periods of worry and concern.

Come the weekend, relax a bit and allow yourself to step away from the routine you’ve created, to allow for variety and separation of the weekend and weekdays. Take the weekends as they come, with little in the way of plans, and just allow yourself to do whatever feels right.

2. BE KIND TO YOURSELF

It’s important to remember that this change in lifestyle isn’t easy for anyone, so don’t be hard on yourself if you have days when you struggle to feel motivated or feel a little down. On those days where you do feel like you need a bit of a break, try catching up over a voice or video call with a friend or family member to lift your spirits, or indulge in a face mask and a movie to give you the space and rest that you need.

3. SEPARATE WORK FROM LIFE

If you’ve not experienced working from home before, it’s important to set boundaries early on. Where possible, set up a dedicated space for working that you can shut the door on at the end of the day, similar to leaving the office or your place of work. Working from home doesn’t have to mean working right the way through the day - it’s easy to feel like as you’re at home already, why would you need a break? Taking a lunch break is important and will help you continue to stay focused throughout the day.

4. TREAT YOUR SKIN

Many of us make excuses for not following a good skincare routine, often based on how little time we have. Even if you are still working at home, no longer having your daily commute means you have access to extra time you didn’t have before. Working from home also allows you to give your skin time to breathe, wearing less makeup and caring for it with extra steps in your routine.

Make great skincare part of your WFH routine. Starting your day with a light cleanse or splash of water (we prefer option 2) and follow with a hydrating serum and nourishing facial oil. Our Hydrate + Glow Duo offers the perfect quick and easy WFH morning skincare routine.

In the evening, start your routine with a deep cleanse our Double Cleanse Duo sets you up with the perfect WFH evening skincare routine, and includes our best selling facial wash. Follow with the Rose Renew Facial Cream which acts like an overnight skin renewing treatment with its 5% Glycolic acid so you wake up looking refreshed and don’t forget to apply a rich and decadent Anti-Ageing Eye Cream.

5. FOCUS ON NOURISHING YOUR MIND AND BODY

Eating well, including exercise in your daily routine and getting enough sleep are now more important than ever before, and will help you continue to feel positive while working from home and keep you healthy. Focus on a diet full of natural whole foods such as fruit, vegetables, whole grains, beans, lentils and other high fibre foods, drink plenty of water and green/herbal teas.

Exercise from home or get out for a walk or run where possible. Try yoga, pilates, or HIIT workouts from home. Finally, keep your immune system in great condition by aiming to get at least 8 hours sleep a night. Studies show that getting enough sleep also helps with your mood, energy levels and productivity.

As you can see, there are a variety of ways in which you can adjust your lifestyle to get the most out of working from home. Work on staying positive and focused, but remember to be kind to yourself and take extra care of yourself during these uncertain times.
